Mick Jenkins has shared “Guapanese,” the newest preview of his upcoming album, The Endurance. Watch the visualizer for it beneath.
Over a piano-based instrumental co-produced by Stoic and Kulture, Jenkins challenges money-obsessed tradition and questions the priorities of others. “All these n***** ever actually speak about is cash,” he spits. “I feel all these n***** obtained to speak about is cash/ His man’s locked up, he can’t bond him out, it’s humorous.”
Together with “Guapanese,” Jenkins has shared the tracklist for The Endurance, which options Benny the Butcher (“Sitting Geese”), Freddie Gibbs (“Present & Inform”), Vic Mensa (“Farm to desk”), and JID (lead single “Smoke Break-Dance”). See it beneath.
In a press release, Jenkins defined that he moved away from his typical concept-driven strategy whereas recording the album. “A whole lot of these new songs have been made after I stopped specializing in an idea and simply wrote spontaneously to the beat,” he stated. “It gave me a brand new degree of freedom.”
The Endurance marks the follow-up to 2021’s Elephant within the Room. It’s out on August 18th on RBC Information/BMG; pre-orders are ongoing.
